During the2017-2019 ptanning process, DDAC devetoped a vision, mission, and guiding principtes to <br />hetp guide their efforts and recommendations to the county. <br />Vision <br />Att peopte with devetopmental disabilities witl have the opportunity to reach their futt potential, <br />achieve their dreams, live fulfitted lives, and be contributing members of our community. <br />lvlission <br />To foster an inctusive environment that supports citizens with devetopmental disabilities and their <br />families to participate in and contribute to a[[ aspects of the community <br />Guiding Principles <br />INCLUSION is the abitity to be present and included in our neighborhoods, schools, community <br />groups, religious spaces and recreational activities. lnctusion offers us opportunities to meet <br />others, participate in community [ife, and feel wetcome. <br />POWER AND CHOICE mean recognizing what we want and how to achieve it. Power is having the <br />abitity to direct or inftuence our own lives. Choice is the opportunity to make decisions that are <br />right for us and includes the opportunity to succeed or fait. <br />HEALTH AND SAFETY mean the abitity to [ive and work in a safe place, to have access to quality <br />health care, and to learn what we need to do to take care of our heatth and safety needs. <br />COMPETENCE is learning to do things that make our lives better and being supported to do things <br />for ourselves. lt inctudes communicating effectivety with those who provide us with supports and <br />being abte to direct those supports. <br />CONTRIBUTION is feeting good about oursetves, being valued and wetl regarded by others, and <br />being recognized for what we contribute to our community. <br />RELATIONSHIPS offer a sense of betonging, continuity, intimacy and give meaning to [ife. <br />Connection to others provides support and opens doors to new opportunities and experiences. <br />llll <br />6
