BACKGROUND <br />Per Washington Administrative Code 388-850-020, each county sha[[ submit a written ptan for <br />devetopmentat disabitities services to the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, <br />Devetopmentat Disabitities Administration (DDA), every two years in atignment with the state's fiscal <br />biennium. <br />According to county guidetines from DDA, the biennial <br />developmentat disabitities ptan is intended to be <br />developed by the county developmentat disabitities <br />advisory board and it aims to: <br />1. Encourage and support the abitity of communities <br />to include people with devetopmental disabitities. <br />2. lnfluence the direction of [oca[ devetopmental <br />disabitities services. <br />3. Help determine the direction of contracted <br />services with input from persons with disabitities, <br />families, and the community. <br />Furthermore, the guidelines state that ptans shoutd set <br />program priorities, objectives, and tasks that inform and <br />Developmental Disabilities Definition <br />Devetopmentat Disabitities are a <br />diverse group of chronic conditions <br />due to mentat/neurotogical or physical <br />impairments or a combination of both. <br />ln general, devetopmental disabitities <br />cause individuals difficutties in certain <br />areas of life, such as language, <br />mobitity, learning, setf-hetp, or <br />independent living. <br />facititate the attocation of resources in alignment with the program mission and vatues. <br />ln Kittitas County, the Developmentat Disabitities Ptan reflects the priorities of the Devetopmental <br />Disabitities Advisory Committee and is used to guide the distribution of both state and [oca[ funding <br />sources. <br />3
