BACKGROUND <br />Per Washington Administrative Code 388-850-020, each county shatt submit a written ptan for <br />developmentat disabitities services to the Washington State Department of Sociat and Heatth Services, <br />Devetopmental Disabitities Administration (DDA), every two years in atignment with the state's fisca[ <br />biennium. <br />According to county guidelines from DDA, the biennial <br />devetopmentat disabitities ptan is intended to be <br />devetoped by the county devetopmentat disabitities <br />advisory board and it aims to: <br />1. Encourage and support the abitity of communities <br />to inctude peopte with devetopmental disabitities, <br />2. lnfluence the direction of local devetopmental <br />disabitities services. <br />3. Hetp determine the direction of contracted <br />services with input from persons with disabilities, <br />families, and the community. <br />Furthermore, the guidetines state that ptans should set <br />program priorities, objectives, and tasks that inform and <br />Developmental Disabilities Definition <br />Devetopmentat Disabitities are a <br />diverse group of chronic conditions <br />due to mentat/neurologicat or physicat <br />impairments or a combination of both. <br />ln generat, developmentaI disabitities <br />cause individuats difficutties in certain <br />areas of [ife, such as language, <br />mobility, learning, setf-hetp, or <br />independent living. <br />facititate the attocation of resources in atignment with the program mission and values. <br />ln Kittitas County, the Developmental Disabitities Ptan reftects the priorities of the Devetopmental <br />Disabitities Advisory Committee and is used to guide the distribution of both state and local funding <br />sources. <br />3
