PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES <br />According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 13% of the poputation, both in Kittitas County <br />(approximately 5,800 people), and nationwide is disabted. (U.S. Census Bureau, 2019) ln Washington <br />State, 72% of DDA ctients live with their parents or retatives. Nine percent live in their own homes, 8% <br />are in supported living environments, and about 3.5% tive in adult famity homes. (U.5. Census Bureau, 2019) ln Washington State, nearly 37% of <br />peopte with disabitities are employed compared to76% of people without disabilities. (Washington <br />State Division of Vocational Rehabiltation, 2017) About 57% of people with disabitities are not in the <br />labor force (compared to 19% of people without disabilities), however many of those who are <br />unemployed or out of the labor force report some type of barrier to employment, such as lack of <br />education or training, lack of transportation, and the need for job accommodations.
