KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />October 19, 2021 <br />Request to Approve a Resolution to Ratify the <br />Chair's Signature on Community Rating System <br />Annual Recertification Form CC -213. <br />BACKGROUND- The Community Rating System is a program <br />offered by the National Flood Insurance Program <br />which rewards communities that implement certain <br />activities to reduce the impacts of flooding with <br />lower flood insurance rates. <br />Kittitas County was accepted into the program in <br />2014 as a Class 6 community and this rating was <br />maintained during the 2019 program audit. Due to <br />the County's participation in the program, residents <br />receive a 20% discount on standard flood insurance <br />policy rates. <br />Every year the County is required to verify the <br />activities for which points are received are still <br />being implemented. The verification form requires <br />the signature of the Chief Executive Officer of the <br />jurisdiction. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works - Flood Control Zone District <br />RECOMMENDATION: Motion to approve the Resolution to Ratify the <br />Chair's Signature on Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency Annual Community Rating <br />System Report Documents. <br />HANDLING: Return a copy of the Resolution to Public Works, <br />Flood Control Zone District <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; Recertification Form CC -213 with <br />attachments <br />LEAD STAFF: Arden Thomas, Water Resource Manager <br />
