Mark Cook stated he would follow up with the applicant of the project. <br />Chairman Ryan Lyyski moved to the next item for discussion — Review of 2021 Flood Impacts. <br />Arden Thomas gave a presentation on flood impacts stating there was not any large flood events and <br />no significant Yakima River flooding. Arden Thomas stated that the sensor at Naneum Creek is <br />experiencing a three (3) hour delay in updating the data. Arden Thomas then showed a map of where <br />flooding complaints had been reported. Karen Poulsen stated that long range planning should be <br />considered since the county is grooving and more complaints are made. Mark Cook commented that <br />on the west side of the state they plan for growth using modeling forecasting the populations and land <br />use applications. Mark Cook added that the modeling does have a lot of value in planning and staff <br />could add to the planning component of the budget. Discussion was held. Arden Thomas then <br />closed out her presentation with an update on individual complaints. <br />Other Business: <br />Jon Morrow with the City of Ellensburg was in attendance to give an updated presentation on the <br />Reecer/Currier Creek Flood Hazard Mitigation Project. <br />Jon Morrow introduced himself and gave background on his role at the City of Ellensburg. Jon <br />Morrow gave background on the project area from 2010 and the realignment of Reecer Creek. Jon <br />Morrow added that the material from the realignment was used to construct the setback levee to <br />Rotary Park, Jon Morrow continued that a grant was applied for to extend the levee. however, there <br />were issues securing easements and that project was stopped and a new project was developed. Jon <br />Morrow gave lurther background on the land swap that occurred in 2017 along Dolarway and the <br />current project will extend the levee to the railroad and the installation of thirty-five (35) foot bridge <br />will be placed. Jon Morrow then explained the flows along with the new modeling that was done to <br />get the previous levee certified by FEMA as well as the new portion certified as well. Discussion <br />was held.
