The
claim of 70 new homes built within the District over the last 5 years *u, in"orrect-,*based on
another jurisdiction. However, the Marian Meadows proposal has been ongoing since the early
2000s, and in this time, the District has seen 109 new homes and structurribuilt within its
boundaries that Kittitas County is currently assessing, in addition to 89 new or revised parcels
platted' See malerials atlached herelo. Many of these are two stories or more and represent large
homes on acreage parcels with little or no means for active fire suppression. Many also have
outbuildings that are larger than anything proposed within Marian Meadows.
ERLC believes that the District is applying too narrow of a lens to these discussions. We find it
disconcerting that Marian Meadows has been actively under discussion since the early 2000's,
with an Environmental Impact Statement dated February 2011, but the district has noi acted to
address either the growth that has happened or that is planned. You cite state law to support your
requests but do not acknowledge the Fire Cornmissioners' obligations under state iaw. The
community has very much been involved in these discussions and has openly debated its merit in
multiple public hearings. As far back as March 9,2A04, ERLC entered into an agreement to assist
Easton Water District to bring its water system requirements into complian... ihir same system
is currently out of state compliance for water service and fire flows. ER.LC showed its good faith
then and will continue to work towards state compliance by the water district, which nicessarily
benefits the Fire District and supplements the value offset by including urban levels of fire flow to
sprinklers within the Marian Meadows development.
l: ( l_li, lsl-:slf . t: (-tti) tjt-:NtSI l:() I 5l l{'r Sr. .
