We were <br />advised that this language was not necessary but still recommended. <br />• The AC approved a motion at the June 23, 2021 meeting to amend the bylaws to <br />include indemnification language. The proposed language is the same language <br />used in the Public Lands Advisory Committee bylaws. <br />• Bylaw amendments must also be approved by the Board of County <br />Commissioners. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />A Flood Control Zone District Advisory Committee (AC) member noted that the Public <br />Lands Advisory Committee bylaws includes language providing indemnification of <br />committee members and requested District staff research whether the AC bylaws should <br />be revised to include this language. The Prosecuting Attorney's office advised that while <br />this language is not necessary, inclusion of this language was recommended. The AC <br />approved a motion at the June 23, 2021 meeting to amend the bylaws to include <br />indemnification language. The proposed language is the same language used in the Public <br />Lands Advisory Committee bylaws. The AC's bylaws specify that changes must be <br />approved by the Advisory Committee and the Board of County Commissioners. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The Prosecuting Attorney's office advised that the indemnification language was not <br />necessary because the Board of County Commissioners would "provide that defense and <br />indemnification anyway so long as the members were acting within the scope of their <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />PUBLIC WORKS BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />
