KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: August 3, 2021 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Special Event Application for <br />Eastside Vocational to host “Overcoming Obstacles – <br />Fighting MS” on August 21, 2021. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Commissioner’s office received a Special Event <br />Application from Kathryn Harms on behalf of Eastside <br />Vocational Services to host “Overcoming Obstacles – <br />Fighting MS” on August 21, 2021. The Event Application <br />was received on June 22, 2021. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Staff forwarded the event application to the following <br />departments for review: Public Works, Fire Marshal, Solid <br />Waste, Public Health, Prosecutor, Treasurer and Sheriff. <br /> <br /> The applicant is requesting a waiver to the following: <br /> <br /> Kittitas County Code Chapter 5.20.100 – Penal Bond – <br />Bond of Indemnity - The applicant HAS provided proof of <br />insurance & endorsements. <br /> <br /> The applicant does not believe they need a waiver to the <br />following: <br /> <br />Kittitas County Code Chapter 5.20.160 – Closing Hours <br />since their event is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. & go <br />until 4:00 p.m. and according to the County Code, events <br />shall not be open to the public before the hour of 7:00 a.m., <br />however they feel that the noise made during the 6:00 a.m. <br />hour will not be enough to disturb the public. <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Contingent Approval with the following Department <br />recommendations: <br /> <br /> Fire Marshal: The Applicant has applied and has an <br />approved event permit thru the Fire Marshal’s Office. The <br />site inspection will be performed 24-48 hrs prior to the <br />event and receive a passing inspection. <br /> <br /> Public Health/EH: As long as there is follow through with <br />the stewardship plan then the applicant has met all <br />requirements (food permit, bathroom facilities and adequate <br />solid waste plan provided). <br />
