BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2021 - <br />AUTHORIZE THE LIMITED USE OF FLOOD CONTROL ZONE DISTRICT <br />PROPERTY SUPPORTING 2021 HONEYBEE DEPLOYMENT <br />WHEREAS: The Flood Control Zone District did acquire the old Stewart Property in 2019; and <br />WHEREAS: Olson Honey has been placing Honeybees on the property for the past several <br />years; and <br />WHEREAS: Olson Honey desires using the property for Honeybee placement in 2021; and <br />WHEREAS: Honeybees provide pollination for numerous farms and agricultural endeavors in <br />Kittitas County; and <br />WHEREAS: The Board of County Commissioners desiring supporting local agriculture by <br />allowing the placement of Honeybees on Flood Control Zone District land this <br />summer; and <br />WHEREAS: In consideration of being allowed to place Honeybees on County property Olson <br />Honey is offering to donate honey to the FISH food bank; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the <br />best interest of the public, does hereby authorize the placement of Honeybees on Flood Control <br />Zone District property. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That staff is directed to work with the Prosecuting Attorney's <br />Office on a long-term solution allowing ongoing Honeybee placement in subsequent years. <br />DATED this 20th day of July 2021, at Ellensburg, Washington. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />Brett Wachsmith, Chairman <br />Attest: <br />❑ Clerk of the Board- Julie Kjorsvik <br />Laura Osiadacz, Vice -Chairman <br />❑ Deputy Clerk of the Board- Mandy Buchholz <br />Cory Wright, Commissioner <br />
