KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SOLID WASTE AND MAINTENANCE MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br />TUESDAY 1 2:00 PM I June 8, 2021 <br />Board members present: Brett Wachsmith, Chairman, Laura Osiadacz, Vice -Chairman and <br />Commissioner Cory Wright. <br />Others: Patti Stacey, Mandy Buchholz, Lisa Lawrence and four members of the public. <br />Meeting called to order at 2:00 p.m. <br />Solid Waste Updates: Patti informed the Board that the Solid Waste Management Plan has been <br />submitted to the Cities for adoption and that once adopted she would bring a resolution to the <br />Board for final adoption. Patti informed the Board that Solid Waste is fully staffed now, after one <br />employee accepted a position in another Department and another employee gave notice that she <br />is planning on retiring soon. <br />New Transfer Station Update: Patti gave the Board an update on the New Transfer Station, <br />stating that they are working on the sewer line along Hwy 97, the perimeter ditch, and the <br />stormwater ponds. <br />Discuss LSWFA Grant: Patti informed the Board that this grant operates the Compost Facility, <br />the Hazardous Waste Facility and Recycling. She informed the Board the funds increased to <br />$260,000.00 for the next biennium. <br />Discuss Dept. of Fish and Wildlife large animal composting: Patti informed the Board she <br />was contacted by Fish and Wildlife about looking into putting in a facility for large animal <br />composting. Patti said she spoke with the Health Department and the Department of Ecology and <br />that they would require a new permit. Discussion was held on the lack of space at the current <br />Transfer Station, no water at Ryegrass and that it would be expensive to get started. Further <br />discussion was held on concerns from the Cattleman's Association and the Dept. of Fish and <br />Wildlife of the lack of a Facility in our County. There will be a meeting on June 15 from 12pm <br />to 1pm to discuss this further. <br />Maintenance Updates: None <br />Update on Asset Essentials: Patti informed the Board that staff is working on tracking time, <br />items, and costs of materials and that eventually the program will be beneficial. <br />Consider Appointments to the Bowling Alley Sub -Committee: This item was continued to the <br />July 13, 2021, Solid Waste Maintenance Study Session. <br />2021-06-08 MINUTES <br />
