Trust, Towns to Teanawa5 Forterra, City of Roslyn City council, City of Cle Elum planner and <br />commissions, Clty of Kittitas Council, City of Ellensburg and Kittitas County commrrnity <br />Development Offices. <br />r Continue to highlight and preserve historic and rural stories througtrout Kittitas County through our <br />efforts of Tourism promotion forKittitas County, City of Ellensburg and the Cityof Cle Elum. <br />r Continue our guidance to businessss on working with local govenrment agencies via our website. <br />o Continue to collaborate with HopeSource Elle,nsburg, Cle Elun:" COAL in Ronald, Kittitas Pantry <br />and FISH to offer assistance and support for social services such as housing fransportation, and <br />services for our citizens in the county. <br />r Develop, create and implement marketing materials (digital and traditional) to recruit new businesses <br />and industries to encourage growth and diverse industry offerings at competitive wagebase. <br />r ldenti$ and implement infrastructure projects ready for funding locally, state or federally. <br />Coflablrate with partners like Kittitas Reclamation District, Ellensburg School District, WSDOT and <br />others. <br />Some of these stategies mentioned above are specificallyin Chapter 10 of the Kittitas County <br />Comprehensive Plan, Economic Development. You will also see as a priority of the Kittitas County <br />Chamber of Commerce for the positions that are being requested to implement and measure success the <br />following goals. <br />. Support the retention and expansion of existing looal businesses aud industries. <br />o Recruit new business and indusfies to foster a strong base ofjobs and wages. <br />o Protect the viability of the airport as a significant economic resource to the community. <br />r Encourage the full economic use of commercial and industrial lands, buildings, and infrastrusture. <br />These same types of strategies can be also found in the Ellensburg Comprehensive Plan with an expansion of <br />parhrers in seCtors of business: industrial, transportation, agriculture, tourism, healthcare and education. <br />7, Describe any research your organization has conducted which shows the need for this position. <br />Please include the data upon which your claims are based for our review. <br />Rural cornmunities are not an economic liability to the country--every rural community has a unique <br />cornbination of assets in which they can invest to grow and promote resilience, These assets include but are <br />not lirnited to: <br />1. Growing populations and workforces in some counties due to international immigration <br />Z, Natural resources, including arnenities such as public parks as well as tradable commodities such as corn <br />and timber <br />3. Innovation and adaption in both the agricultural and manufacturing industries <br />4. Community social capital resulting from close-knit communities and social infi'astructure <br />Some rural communities have successfully leveraged their natural amenities to revitalize their economies. <br />Many of the mral areas experiencing economic growth have prospered, in part, due to tourism and the <br />outdoor recreation economy. Recreation-dependent rural counties have demonstrated faster job growth <br />compared with nonrecreation rural counties, and newcomers to these areas tend to have higher average <br />"u.,irgr than those in other rural counties.
