The Nature Conservancy via email:
Good Morning Nicole,
Thank you for the opportunity to provide comments on the 2021 Recreation and Tourism Plan. We
appreciate the County's efforts to advance this important work.
The Nature Conservancy is referenced six times in the plan and most of those references are
accurate and supported from our perspective. However, there is one reference that we request is
adjusted.
The reference currently reads:
"Action Item 6.4 Conserve Open spaces
Define and conserve a system of open space corridors or separators to provide definition
between natural areas and urban land uses in and adjacent to Roslyn and Cie Elum —
especially the open spaces created by the Teanaway Community Forest and the recent
acquisitions by The Nature Conservancy."
While The Nature Conservancy is a partner in the land ownership, it is actually owned by the
Central Cascades Forest, I.I.C. To clarify, we propose the following edit:
"Action Item 6.4 Conserve Open spaces
Define and conserve a system of open space corridors or separators to provide definition
between natural areas and urban land uses in and adjacent to Roslyn and Cie Elum —
especially the open spaces created by the Teanaway Community Forest and the recent
acquisitions by the Central Cascades Forest. LLC and managed by The Nature
Conservancy."
Thanks — we look forward to hearing if this is acceptable to the County.
Darcy Batura (she/her) The Nature Conservancy
Forest Parfnerships Manager 110 E First Street
Cie Eium, WA 98922
(509) 304-5200 www.washinatonnature.ora/centralcasca des
30
