other entities for scientific, technical or cultural information including federal agencies, watershed <br />planning units, conservation districts, public utility districts, and other institutions as needed. <br />All participating jurisdictions were responsible for reviewing and commenting on recommended <br />shoreline environment designations and the goals, policies, and use regulations associated with <br />those designations as well as the various supporting documents including but not limited to: <br />inventory characterization reports, restoration plans and cumulative impact analysis. Each jurisdiction <br />was responsible for approving the final SMP through local adoption processes. <br />3. Shoreline visioning process <br />To kick-off the process of developing the regional SMP, community-wide visioning sessions were <br />held in Ellensburg and Cle Elum to gather input on how the shoreline areas should look five (5) to ten <br />(10) years from now. Community visioning questionnaires were also distributed widely throughout <br />the County to solicit feedback. Community members provided input on topics such as public access, <br />water-related and water-dependent uses, recreation, restoration activities and more. A summary of <br />the community visioning process can be found in the Community Visioning Report dated October <br />2012. <br />42. Regional Shoreline Master Program website <br />A web page was developed and hosted on the Kittitas County website to share information about <br />the regional SMP update process and to provide opportunities for the public to submit comments <br />and input. <br />The webpage contained a range of information and documentation related to the development of <br />the SMP update process including: <br />• background materials <br />• public participation plan and process timeline <br />• frequently asked questions <br />• information on how to participate in the process <br />• community visioning questionnaire <br />• information on advisory committees <br />• meeting materials and summaries <br />• key contacts <br />The webpage was kept current and maintained throughout the duration of the update. <br />5. Technical Advisory Committee <br />Kittitas County, with input from the Cities and Town invited a group of representatives within the <br />scientific community from statewide agencies, the Yakama Nation, the private sector, and academia <br />to participate on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). The purpose of the TAC was to help focus <br />technical discussions and identify key technical and policy issues associated with the SMP update <br />process.
