6/7/2020
To:
City of Cle Elum
119 West First St
Cle Elum, WA 98922
To Whorn it may Concern:
I am excited the City of Cle Elum continues to improve the disc golf course at Hanson ponds. lt is a rough
gem ready to be shaped. Course signage is an irnportant feature that can take a course to the next level
of legitimacy.
This is a very good course, very challenging, demanding concentration and skill to score well, But it also
caters to casual play. Both types of players, and everyone in between, have fun playing disg here.
I have lots of advice on how to improve the course. lwill provide one suggestion, for now; placement of
signage is critical, lt can't be anywhere near the front of the teebox, where it rnight impede a person's
follow through on a drive. Originality is always appreciated (OK, two suggestions). There are great ready-
made signs available that you can put on a pole and be done with it, but something homegrown, maybe
some kind of surplus heavy item, that could be painted on and anchored to the ground, could provide a
clever and memorable marker,
Developing an identity is an effective way of bringing more people to Cle Elum for dlsc golf. Thousands
of players live just over the summit. A fun logo can help distinguish eastside disc golf, if lt has the course,
(or coursesl) to back it up.
I am not an eastsider. I am a Midwesterner and have only been in the area for littie more than a year,
The Cle Elum disc golf course has been a welcome familiarity for when I need to relax and unwind.
Sincerely,
Jamey Basye
Disc golf enthusiast
