Adopted by the Board of County Commissioners
February 3, 2009
16

Section 3B - 2008 Committee Survey of County Agencies
Providing Services to the Homeless

The Kittitas County Homeless Committee undertook efforts in Spring 2008 to identify resources
and gaps in service for homeless populations in Kittitas County. Committee members worked
with local agencies serving the homeless to compile a comprehensive list of programs and
services, funding sources, number of clients served annually, barriers to service for the agency,
services of agency underutilized, and perceived gaps in services county wide. Additionally,
committee members facilitated focused conversations with the Kittitas Valley Ministerial
Alliance Association. The following agencies participated in either the survey or were
represented through conversations:

Central Washington Comprehensive Mental
Health
Kittitas County Head Start /
ECEAP
Elmview Housing Authority
St. Vincent de Paul ADDS
ASPEN FISH Food Bank
Hope Source Chestnut Street Baptist Church
Calvary Baptist Church First Baptist Church
Christian & Missionary Alliance Church First Lutheran Church
First Presbyterian Church First United Methodist Church
Grace Episcopal Saint Andrews Catholic Church
Foursquare Church Unitarian Universalist Church

Gaps in Service
The following needs were identified through conversations and data collection about
homelessness in Kittitas County. This list of gaps in service should be used to inform a
comprehensive homelessness plan, also taking into considerations strengths and available
resources (see below).
Crisis Services
· Need additional crisis beds, especially for the mentally ill. (high need – referenced by many
agencies)
Case Management / Advocacy
· Need ability to get homeless on Medicaid or disability in a timely manner.
