Cook and Marc Eylar
RECOMMENDATION:
Accept the donation from AquaTechnex to apply ProcellaCor to the pond at Thompson
Park and direct staff manage the application effort.
BRIEFING SUMMARY:
• Eurasian water milfoil is a Class B noxious weed designated for control in bodies
of water with public access in Kittitas County and the pond at Thompson Park has
become heavily infested with milfoil.
• Noxious Weed has been contacted by Mr. Terry McNabb from AquaTechnex who
is offering to donate an application of the herbicide ProcellaCor for milfoil
treatment
• Staff time (Noxious Weed) is anticipated for conducting the application effort.
BACKGROUND:
Last year Naneum Pond was renamed to Thompson Park honoring Sheriff Deputy Ryan
Thompson. An attempt at manually controlling the milfoil was conducted last year as
well. Herbicide treatment of the milfoil is highly recommended by the Noxious Weed
Board. Terry McNabb, owner of the aquatic vegetation management company
AquaTechnex, is offering to donate an application of the effective herbicide ProcellaCor
to control the milfoil infestation.
DISCUSSION:
The herbicide is likely to achieve significant milfoil reduction in the pond. The treatment
application can be managed by Noxious Weed employee Marc Eylar with assistance from
Public Works (PW). PW desires assisting Mr. Eylar attempting to eradicate the milfoil
from the pond at Thompson Park.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
None anticipated.
ATTACHMENTS:
Exhibit 1: ProcellaCor fact sheet
Public Works "Work Session Staff Report", 2021
