KITTITAS COUNTY
EC STUDY SESSION MINUTES
BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG
Regular Meeting
WEDNESDAY 10:00 AM February 10, 2021
Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith (via Webex), Vice -Chairman Laura Osiadacz (via
Webex), Cory Wright (via WebWx)
Others: Event Center Director Kady Porterfield (via Webex), Event Center Program Manager Lacie
Dawson (via Webex)
Call to Order: Chairman Wachsmith called the meeting to order at 10:00am
General Event and Rental Updates:
Jury trials are scheduled to begin on 3/16. Bloom is busy with no issues to report. People are ready to
rent, very excited.
Self -Promoted Events:
Kady is currently working on contingency plans for the 4"' of July concert. The promoter is working hard
on coming up with mutually agreeable alternatives for seating and other event options. A final decision
will be made in early April if the event can proceed. Tickets would likely go on sale in mid-May.
Fair: Kady is working with the Fair Board on plans for the upcoming fair. A cashless system for ticketing
is in the works. The carnival has a sanitation plan in place for COVID. The Fair Board President has had
a meeting with Dr. Larson to discuss fair plans. Dr. Larson said there may not be able to be a full fair
again this year. Kady stated that there have been fairs happening in other states, with no links to
outbreaks and is optimistic about our fair.
Livestock Sale: There will be changes from the prior sale structure. The Fair Board will be taking
responsibility for the sale this year. The Fair Board is having discussions with the former sale committee
members moving forward. A director will be appointed to be in charge of organizing the sale and the
financial end will be handled by Friends of the Fair.
Approve PSA with K5 Contracting: The contract is for the spray foam and wall finishing for the
Buckaroo stands.
Commissioner Osiadacz made a motion to approve the PSA for K5 Contracting.
Discussion: Commissioner Wright expressed the need for a process or preventative action should be in
place, so the county does not end up being responsible for defects in workmanship. Kady stated that she
is carefully reviewing contracts to be sure that does not happen (prior repairs were completed prior to
Kady's tenure). No further discussion.
Motion passes 3-0.
2021-02-10 MINUTES
