Response 1:
ProjecVEvent
Description *
This project is designed to increase historic au,areness, brand au,arerress, and
eveniual tourism and attendance by continuing to apply new and exciiing
promotions through social nredia marketing, online video and neusletier production
and distribution, and website development relating to Kittitas Counly history.
The project will focus on the development of virtual lectures, with a tourism
promotion of Ellensburg and Kittiias County; possible promotion of onsite lectures
depending on guidelines rdrich rarlculd feature topics and entice visitation of the
area and museLim; website updates for activities, including but not limited to virtual
and onsite leclures, ntaking it more mobile friendly, "Did You Knord' pages on
topics of local history questioned by frequent visitors and guests to the county, and
eiribits to be featured in 2021 including irrigation, fair and rodeo, the Rodeo City
Roller Girls, banking history (including the Kittitas State Bank, Cle Elum State Bank
and the Roslyn Bank Robbery), disastrous events (like the 1906 Floods in
Ellensburg and Cle Elum); and more. Videos will be developed to include personal
stories of newfeatures and stories relating to these topics and historic items and
incorporated on the uebsite. All r,r,rll be featured through twice monthly nerasletters
that will encourage individuals to stay in Kittitas Courrty and highlight information
related to the theme of that nevrsletler.
This entire plan is focused on sharing infornration and encouraging individuals to
learn more about Kittitas County history v*rile staying safe during these uncertain
times. Since many of our plans for 2020 had been cancelled or postponed until
2021 (and those plans even remain uncertain due to our limited capacity), we are
pursuing a more-virtual opportunity to share our Museum and local history wiih the
raorld. Prior to the COVID-19 closure on March 16.2028, r.rrc had continued to show
a25o/oincrease in attendance per month. These numbers vrere reflected in 2019
year-errd totals of 8,328 total visitors (5,426 came to viewthe exhibits only. with an
increase of 386 over the prior year). With only one cancelled lecture, r,re had 1,956
attend our annual lecture series (showing a decrease ol 144 from 2018 numbers).
By sharing our local history in these new formats, we intend to draw interest in the
community from individuals from the entire \M3stern United States who may be
planning upcoming trips, or are interested in hisiory and our community.
2500 characler limt
List of lntended Use of Funds*
$8,400.00 Online Advertising
$1,260.00 Ad Production
$1 0,000.00 Video Production
$3,600.00 Nevrrsletter Production and Distribution
$4,500.00 Website Updates
2l Supporting Kittitas County as a tourism destination.
1.
