Ruby St., Suite 2, Ellensburg, WA 98926 <br />CDS@CO.KITTITAS.WA.US <br />Office (509) 962-7506 <br />Fax (509) 962-7682 <br /> <br />“Building Partnerships – Building Communities” <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: February 2, 2021 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Set a Public Hearing to Consider Amending KCC Chapter 14.04 and <br />Title 20 to Adopt the 2018 International Building Codes with Washington State <br />Amendments and Referenced Standards and to Consider Amending KCC Title <br />18 to Correct Grammatical and Scrivener Errors. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: On July 1, 2020, the Washington State Building Code Council completed adoption of the <br />following: <br />• 2018 International Building Code with statewide amendments <br />• ICC/ANSI A117.1-09, Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities, with <br />statewide amendments <br />• 2018 International Residential Code with statewide amendments <br />• 2018 International Mechanical Code with statewide amendments <br />• 2018 International Fuel Gas Code with statewide amendments (part of the IMC <br />adoption) <br />• 2017 Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code (NFPA 58) <br />• 2015 National Fuel Gas Code (NFPA 54) <br />• 2018 International Fire Code with statewide amendments <br />• 2018 Uniform Plumbing Code with statewide amendments <br />• 2018 International Energy Conservation Code/Washington State Energy Code <br />• 2018 International Existing Building Code with statewide amendments found in the <br />IBC <br />• 2018 International Swimming Pool and Spa code <br />These codes, with Washington State amendments and referenced standards, had <br />previously been scheduled to become effective on February 1, 2021. On January 8, 2021, <br />the Washington State Building Code Council voted to extend the effective date of the <br />new codes until July 1, 2021. On January 18, 2021, Governor Inslee repealed the July 1, <br />2021 effective date. Therefore, these codes, with Washington State amendments and <br />referenced standards, became effective on February 1, 2021. <br />CDS is requesting to set a public hearing to consider amending the current Kittitas <br />County Code (KCC) Chapter 14.04 and Title 20 to adopt the 2018 International Building <br />Codes with Washington State Amendments and referenced standards, and to amend KCC <br />Title 18 to correct grammatical and scrivener errors. <br />INTERACTION: CDS, Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: None <br />
