KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />PUBLIC WORKS — BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: January 11, 2021 <br />TOPIC: Floodplains by Design Letter of Support <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Authorize the Chair's Signature <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Mark R. Cook <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Authorize the Chair's signature on the Floodplains by Design (FbD) letter supporting the <br />Governor's legislative request for $70 million. <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />• Recently the County signed a letter of support for funding (2021-2023) FbD in the <br />Governor's budget at $70 million <br />• The Governor's Office has sent a request to the legislature at $70 million <br />• FbD is requesting a similar action supporting a letter to the legislature <br />BACKGROUND: <br />FbD has been successful lobbying the Governor's Office to fund the program at $70 <br />million of the biennium (2021-2023). Efforts now shift to lobbying the legislature. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />FbD is requesting that Kittitas County sign on to the letter of support directed at the state <br />legislature supporting the Governor's budget request for funding FbD at $70 million. <br />FISCAL IMPACTS: <br />No impact to Kittitas County. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Exhibit 1: Letter of support <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Public Works "Work Session Staff Report", 2021 <br />
