CITY OF CLE ELUM <br />WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTTON NO. 2020_00s <br />A RESOLLTNON Otr' TIIE CITY OF CLE ELUM, <br />WASIIINGTON, PROVIDING FOR TIIE SUBI/ilSSION TOTrtr QUALTnED ELECTORS OF' TIm CrTy AT ANELECTION TO BE HELD ON APRIL 28, 2O2O OF APROPOSITION AT-ruTIORIZING TIIE CITY TO LIFT TI{ELEVV LIMIT ESTABLISITED IN RCW 84.55.010 TOPROVIDE FUNDS TIM F'IFS DEPARTMENT FORCONTINUED OPERATION' ADDITIONAL CAPITALEXPENDITURES, BUILDING RENOVAfiONS ANDTRAINING, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFjFECTTVE DATE <br />WHEREAS, the City of Cle Elum, Washington (the "City') Fire Deparknent provides localand regional fire prevention, suppression, emergency medical services, ,"r"t'16, oirurio'pr"paredness, <br />and community education to resjdents of the Cify; and <br />WHEREAS, funds will be used for the continued operation ofthe Fire Departrnent, additionalcapital expenditures, building renovations and training; ani <br />WHEREAS, Rcw 84.55.050 authorizes the voters of a city to authorize an inqease abovethe Ievy limitations established in RCW g4.55.010; and <br />WHEREAS, the conditions here and above set forth require the holding of a specialelection in the City, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF TFIE CITY OF CLE ELUM,WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />Sgqti?n- 1. <br />=Et*diags. <br />The City Council finds it is in the best interests of the residents a'dbusinesses of the City to provide funds that would adequately fund the fire depafinent, purchaseadditional caprtal expenditures and perform building renovatioirs. The city councit ,rruu a"t",,oin"the tirning, order, and manner of the funds. <br />2.It is hereby found aurd declared that the bestinterests of City require the subrnission to the q ualified electors ofthe City a proposttron regardingwhether the Cify shatl levy property taxes in above the levy limitations establishedin RCW 84,55,010for their ratification or rejection at an election to be held on April 28,2020. The Director of KittitasCounty Elections is hereby requested to call and conduct such election to be held within the City onsuch dayand to submit to the qualified electors of*re City for tJreir approval or rejection a propositionto authorize a levy of approximately $150,000 per annum upon all taxable properfy within the City,for collection for 6 years beginning n202l,the sstimated costto be approximately $0.S0 per $1,000
