Tourism-Related Facility Operational Funding Narrative
{Municipality Applications Only}
1. OperationalSpending: Please explain your request for operationalfunding and how it is
directly related to supporting the operations of a tourism-related facility owned or operated by
a municipality or public facilities district.
The City of Cle Elum, and the entire Upper County area has been experiencing an increase in
tourism over the past several years that has increased the need for reliable and clean restroom
facilities. The availability of restrooms is often an important consideration for travelers. This
often overlooked amenity can determine the location and duration of a visit, and can certainly
impact an entire travel experience, particularly for families or individuals with special needs.
This in turn has resulted in an increased workload of the small public works erew. During peak
season the City's public restrooms at City Park and in the downtown core (see inset map)
require daily cleaning, amidst the other necessary seasonal maintenance such as mowing, hash
pick-up, and garbage services within the downtown and at all of the City's numerous parks and
trails (see attached parks and frails map).
Cle Elum Public Restrooms
A*hrrct'
,gnf.a Cqnry nab. 6eqy dldl b pbd@ cd Nlldt h?
