Centennial Mountain Lions Club
Cle Elum WA
Club President DeAnna Haverfield
May 7,2020
To whom it may concern,
Hello there, my name is DeAnna and I am the club president for the Cle Elum Lions club. We
have been working with the city for quite some time now to develop a dog park in our
community. We are excited for the addition to accornmodate local families, but mostly for our
travelers. During the summer months we are inundated with travelers off l-90. They stop in
town to stretch their legs, patron local business and rejuvenate for their long trip home through
heavy su m mer traffic. Many of these travelers have pets with no place to exercise them or even
let them out for fresh air. This will be a wonderful addition to Cle Elum to provide a sought-after
destination for visitors. Rest areas have places to relieve their dogs, but no place to stretch their
legs and get some energy out.
There are many elements to the project that have begun, but many more to make it fully capable
to serve everyone properly. Drinking fountains would be a great addition. But to truly know
how the park will be used we need to be able to track visitors. Camera systems would be the
best way to do that as well as monitor vandalism (this is a self-serve park). Signage is the key and
comes with a price tag as well. I believe there will be an online presence for individuals to search
for the location, but nothing explains where something is better than large signs visible to those
driving by.
lf there is any way for addition funds, we would be eternally grateful. There are many people
that have been working tirelessly over the years to get this project moving forward and it is
happening! We are so excited as a community,
Thank you for your time,
DeAnna Havertield
