KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: October 20, 2020 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to approve the Resolution to Ratify the <br />Chair's Signature on Letter to Ecology providing <br />public hearing notification. <br />BACKGROUND: In early September 2020, the Kittitas Reclamation <br />District and West Side Irrigating Company <br />submitted a petition to formulate a joint control <br />board to the Board of County Commissioners. <br />Washington State Law contemplates a joint <br />irrigation control board in Revised Code of <br />Washington 87.80. The Board of County <br />Commissioners are required to conduct a public <br />hearing acting on the submitted petition. <br />On October 12, 2020 the Board of County <br />Commissioners set a Public Hearing for November <br />12, 2020 to consider this petition. RCW 87.80.050 <br />requires that a public notice for the hearing be <br />published in the official newspaper for Kittitas <br />County and that a copy of the notice be mailed to <br />the Department of Ecology at Olympia at least <br />thirty days prior to the date of the hearing.
