Kittitas County Regional Airport -Bowers Field
205 West 5`h Ave. Suite 105
n Ellensburg, WA 98926
eowee FlED 509-312-2017
9/24/2020
Dear Mr. Chenaur,
Bowers Field is applying for the Aviation Revitalization Loan to extend our eastern hangar taxiway,
allowing for development of five hangar lots and extending utilities to another seven hangar lots. We
currently have high demand for hangar development and this loan will help us meet that need and bring in
needed revenues for the airport. Here is a brief overview of our current situation.
The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) and Airport Advisory Committee determined that,
because of airport growth needs, it was instrumental to find a full-time Airport Manager and support staff.
They also recently decided to create a new county airport department, removing jurisdiction from public
works. This new department is managed by the Director of Airport Operations and Airport Coordinator.
Bowers Field Airport has become a priority for county growth and development and therefore is working
on a Strategic Business Plan Process. This will include a fee analysis and a market study to position
Bowers Field as the leading Central Washington General Aviation Hub. Bowers Field is the closest
eastern GA airport to Seattle, with the facilities and land to take on industrial business growth and small
business jet traffic. Bowers Field has a 175 -acre Business/Industrial Park, 50 acres for Aeronautical
Development, and an additional 800 acres of land available for future development.
New operations at Bowers Field in 2020 include: AirPac Airlines which provides UPS cargo support and
NetJets which provides unscheduled passenger service. The airport is currently developing 20 new lots
for individual and corporate hangars. We have taken deposits to develop 17 new hangers. (Exhibit #1).
Three of those are corporate lots that can house Cessna Citation size jet aircraft (see Exhibit 45 and 6). In
the last year, one new corporate hangar and two general aviation hangars have been built (see Exhibit #2,
#3 and 4). Additionally, the airport is adding a pilot lounge with restroom facilities in the next 45 days.
This projected development and growth at Bowers Field is exciting and shows the interest in revitalizing
this great asset. We appreciate all that Washington DOT Aviation Division does for our airports and look
forward to working with you in 2021. Let me know if you have any questions and thank you for this
opportunity through the Aviation Revitalization Loan program.
Sincerely,
Benjamin A. West
Director of Airport Operations
Kittitas County Regional Airport -Bowers Field
509-312-2017
Benjamin.west@co.kittitas.wa.us
