2020 Covid-19 Plan - The Haunted Forest and Corn Maze
As a "one stop shop" for fall fun, we also operate a Haunted Forest and Corn Maze in the evening. Event
details are as follows:
o Friday and Saturday nights from 7pm to 1"0pm, beginning the second weekend in October,
through October (Oct. 9th through Oct. 31)
o This is a weather dependent activity
r The overall patch area is shut down, however, we use the Silo Caf6/BBQ Shack for selling tickets
and light concessions and the picnic area is used for staging guests
o The nature of the activity is family oriented/groups. Guests do not go through with anyone
other than the family/friends they came with
o Again, given the nature of the activity, we already have to control capacity and space people
out. We send groups in one at a time, with recommended group size of no more than 4, but we
will allow as many as 6 max
o Slower nights, we send groups in 3-minutes apart. Busier weekends we send groups in 2-
minutes apart
o lf the average group size is 3 (most people come in pairs), we can have no more than 60-90
people per hour. Given that the first and last hour are slowest, we don't actually see more than
200 people per night
o Guests are directed to buy their tickets at the Silo Caf6/get a number, then wait by the firepit to
be called
o Coffee, smore kits, etc. can also be purchased at the BBQ Shack
o Once at the firepit, guests are given a safety talk/instructions/back story
o Then, we callgroup numbers one at a time
o Guests first wind their way through the corn maze, where there are no actors (we want to
reduce the tendency for folks to stray off the path when scared)
o Once they exit the corn maze, they enter the forest, where they are met by actors in various
roles.
r lf they survive @...ttrey are invited to go to the "survivors" firepit (a 2"d firepit) and hangout to
enjoy drinks/snacks
Based on what l've just shared, we've looked at operations in three parts; Silo Caf6 staff, guests and
actors. Considerations and plans for each are as follows:
Silo Caf6/BBQ Shack staff - Operations would mirror daytime/patch operations. Concessions are
permitted with the Health Department and standard food handling practices will be followed. Masks
and gloves will be worn, hand sanitizer will be made available for guests and social distancing will be
practiced
Guests -
r Existing county/state mandates will be expected of guests (i.e. masks, socialdistancing, etc.).
o Additional firepits and/or propane heaters will be added, to spread people out as they wait for
their number to be called
