Ellensburg should consider an oper house "live downtown" <br />event to promote downtown residential development oppofunities. The event should be an open <br />house of existing residential units in downtown to show both potential residents and developers <br />the potential fol additional living in the community. Many people simply haven't experienced <br />what downtown living can be like. Some communities have even done "mock" upper floor <br />housing with fumishings from local decorators to showcase what downtown living could be like <br />in a particular building. <br />4.1.3 l{/ork to buikl Ellensburg Gateway dt comer of Main and Third. Medium Priority. <br />Currently the comer of 3'd Avenue and Main Street is an existing parking lot paved with concrete <br />pavers. Figure 9 shows that the same number of parking spaces can be moved to be on sh.eet <br />parking, opening up the area for outdoor dining and an aftractive downtown gateway sign at the <br />northeast corner of the intersection. The restrooms at the southwest comer of the intersection <br />should be relocated to the center of town as outlined in recommendation 4.1.1 above. <br />27
