The Xey Flndings summary describes the results of the questionnaire and includes <br />comparisons with the statistically valid survey conducted in February 2002s. Where possible <br />any changes in public opinion over time are noted as compared to the 2002 statistical <br />Survey. The 2015 questionnaire entire report is Appendix C-lattached, and available on the <br />city's website (http://www,ci.ellensburg.wa.us) <br />Key Findings: Parks and Recreation Questionnaire Results summary <br />Parks: <br />' Porks. recreation ond open spoces ore verv importdnt to resaondeots. <br />The majority of the respondents (85%) indicated that parks and recreation programs are <br />lmportant to the overall quality of life in Ellensburg. Close to 60% of the respondents <br />indicated that natural open spaces are very important to the community. <br />' DEveloped oarks, troils snd woterfront sreos are the most populdr Npes of parks. <br />Based on the questionnaire, respondents visited these areas frequently (at least once a <br />week or 1-2 times a monthf. Similarly, parks were mostly used for physical activity including <br />walking or biking. <br />' Respondents ore generolly sotisfied wlth park maintenonce, but there is some destre for <br />improved maintendnce. <br />Nearly 58% of respondents found the general upkeep and maintenance of parks as <br />excellent or good while another Zi%ofound it ok. However, based on the open-ended <br />responses, there were many comments expressing a need to improve maintenance, <br />Recreatlon Facilities dnd Troils:. There is interest in addina oreater varletv ln the oork svstem. <br />ldeas expressed by respondents included a water playground or splash pad, skating rink, <br />disc golf, off-leash dog areas and places for kids to play. <br />' Res0ondents voiced a need to moximize use of existina pork ond oublic land, <br />ln existing parks and facilities, respondents suggested adding lights to ballfields to increase <br />hours for field use and multi-purpose indoor space for use during colder weather.
