F:r r.))F lFlIA\Ni <br />GoalT'2 Prioritize connections with state highway routes and removal of <br />bottlenecks that delay the movement of people and goods. <br />Policy A Maintain interconnectedness and high levels of access through a well-developed <br />grid network and high quality connections between the walking, biking, auto, <br />freight, and transit networks. <br />Pollcy B Design of new streets in the city shall use a street grid system at an interval of <br />tl2 mile for arterial streets, Within the 7/2 mile sections, attempt to maintain a <br />Ll4 mile connection for auto circulation, with 200 to 600 foot pedestrian <br />connections, depending on zone density. <br />Policy C For all undeveloped areas of the city and UG& prepare maps of future street <br />alignments, especially for arterials, considering existing development patterns <br />and physical barriers such as streams and steep slopes. <br />Potlcy D Establish IOS B as the standard for local streets, tOS C for collectors and <br />arterials, and IOS D for the t-90 interchanges, <br />Policy E Wherever possible, seek to increase route options through strategic additions to <br />the transportation system that fill gaps and add alternative routes. <br />Policy F Maintain and enforce truck routes through the city and ensure connection to <br />freeway interchanges. <br />Pollcy G Focus lndustrlal growth along specific transportatlon corridors that are destgned <br />to accommodate heavy vehicles and other industrial users. <br />Policy H Concentrate land uses that generate long-haul truck traffic nearby the City,s <br />freeway interchange areas. <br />Policy I Ensure development regulations and street standards are current with <br />contemporary truck design criteria, particularly as they apply to those areas near <br />the freeway interchanges. <br />Goalr-3 Fillgaps in the system to accommodate safe, enioyable, and energly <br />efficient travel by those of all abilities choosing to walk, blke, or use <br />translt. <br />Policy A Prioritize building streets, trails, linear parks, and pathways to connect <br />neighborhoods, schools, parks, and commercial areas so that walking and biking <br />are viable modes for both recreation and transportataon purposes. <br />Policy B Establish bicycle and pedestrian priority networks that highlight the most critical <br />facilities to accommodate those modes. <br />ClTv OF ELLENSBURG COI,IPREHENSIVE PLAN o TRANSPORTATION o pAGt 88
