KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />June 16,2020 <br />Request to Approve a Resolution to Award the <br />Contract for the Big Boulder Creek Road Bridge <br />Replacement and authorize the Public Works <br />Director to execute contract documents. <br />BACKGROUND: On February 5, 2019, the Kittitas County Board of <br />County Commissioners initiated a County Road <br />Project designated as CRP NO. 296-18 for the Big <br />Boulder Creek Road Bridge Replacement. <br />On July 2, 2019, the Kittitas County Board of <br />County Commissioners authorized award of the first <br />phase of the project (Resolution 2019-113). <br />In September of 2019 Thayer Excavating completed <br />phase 1 of the project to provide a 40' temporary <br />bridge crossing Big Boulder Creek which allowed <br />normal legal traffic to be reestablished on the <br />roadway. <br />On April 21, 2020 the Kittitas County Board of <br />County Commissioners approved award of a 60' <br />metal girder bridge procurement to Contech <br />Engineering for the above-mentioned project. <br />(Resolution 220-087). <br />Kittitas County Public Works solicited to the three <br />firms that attended the mandatory pre-bid site visit <br />Thursday May 30, 2019 for phase two of the <br />project. Bids were opened on June 10, 2020 and the <br />lowest qualified bidder was Morgan and Sons <br />Earthmoving, Inc.
