KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: May 11, 2020 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for <br />the Fairview Road Widening and Coleman Creek <br />Structure Replacement. <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works has been working on the completion of the <br />bid package for a permanent fix for two failed culverts on <br />Coleman Creek at Fairview Road. The work is being <br />completed with local road maintenance funding from <br />Public Works. The engineer's estimated cost range is: <br />$900,000.00 - $1,000,000.00. <br />The bid package will include bid requests for the <br />improvement of Fairview Road from MP 5.13 to MP 5.42 <br />by widening the road, installing a new box culvert and <br />realigning Coleman Creek through the reach to reduce <br />the number of roadway crossings. The Work consists of <br />constructing new stream channel, removing existing <br />stream crossing structures, filling the existing stream <br />channel, installing a temporary stream diversion, <br />landscape restoration, grading, guardrail, and traffic <br />control. <br />Call for bids are advertised in the legal newspaper and <br />the Daily Journal of Commerce. <br />Bids are scheduled to be delivered by 10 AM on May 28, <br />2020 to the Public Works Department and will be opened <br />on June 1, 2020 at 9:30 AM. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the <br />Fairview Road Widening and Coleman Creek Structure <br />Replacement and direct staff to advertise as requested. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Call for Sealed Bids <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark Cook <br />Director of Public Works <br />
