2/25/2019 MINUTES 2 <br />The Board asked Staff to sign them up and book hotel to allow them <br />to participate with LSC on 3/14/19. <br /> <br />ACKNOWLEDGE HOPESOURCE COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II stated that after <br />adding/publishing the topic to the Agenda for the Board to <br />acknowledge/approve HopeSource Youth Scholarship Program 2019 Budget <br />she received a call from Budget & Finance Manager Judy Pless stating <br />that the Board needed to do so through a Resolution. Ms. Buchholz <br />explained that she hadn’t processed this in the past as it was <br />something that former Commissioner Jewell handled so the process is <br />a bit unchartered. She stated that she had asked Andrew Lyons of <br />HopeSource to come and answer any questions the Board may have but <br />she would be asking the Board to direct Staff to work with the <br />appropriate County Departments to prepare enabling documents. <br /> <br />The Board asked a few questions of Mr. Lyons and directed Staff to <br />prepare enabling documents for their consideration in the near <br />future. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION FACEBOOK WEEKLY POSTS COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />The Board determined for the week of February 25, 2019 they would <br />share the following on Facebook: Upper Yakima Basin Study; Daily <br />Record Fish Food Bank update; and a WSAC/LSC highlight. <br /> <br />UPDATE BOCC/ DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Each Commissioner was assigned three different Department Heads to <br />meet with on a weekly basis. This was determined at a Special <br />Meeting with the Board of County Commissioners held on June 18, <br />2009. Each Commissioner reviewed discussions held with their <br />respective departments and exchanged details of those meetings. On <br />January 3, 2011 the Board determined it would be beneficial to <br />alternate Commissioners that will oversee the different Department <br />Head’s on an annual basis. They determined at the end of 2013 they <br />would review the various committees they participate in and provide <br />beneficial updates to the Board as needed during this time as well. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS- <br /> <br />Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board asked the Board if they <br />wanted to continue loaning out their Explorer. She explained that it <br />was her impression after they had it detailed they were no longer <br />going to let other departments use it. She stated Staff needs <br />direction so that when they get calls they can confidently give an <br />answer instead of always being in limbo. <br />
