02/20/2019 MINUTES 1

COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
901 EAST 7TH AVE – ARMORY A
SPECIAL MEETING

WEDNESDAY 9:00 A.M. FEBRUARY 20, 2019

Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett
Wachsmith & Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.

Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Kady Porterfield,
Event Center Director & Fair Board Directors: Jared Fudacz and Roylene
Crawford.

SPECIAL MEETING 4th OF JULY CELEBRATION COMMISSIONERS

At 9:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to discuss and
consider 4th of July Community Celebration – Tracy Lawrence concert and
post-show Fireworks in the Rodeo Arena.

Kady Porterfield, Event Center Director presented & reviewed with the
Board an expense and revenue projected breakdown for a July 4th Concert
with Tracy Lawrence and post-show fireworks in the Rodeo Arena. She
stated that it would be a night event and then potentially have some day
time activities however she and Commissioner Wachsmith have only briefly
discussed that possibility.

There was discussion of potential conflicts with Pioneer Days as well as
the potential for the events to complement each other. There was
discussion of time sensitivity to start promoting the event if the Board
approved the event so that Director Porterfield could lock in the
performer. She stated that the spreadsheet doesn’t show any of the
sponsorships she is anticipating and if she is successful then that will
change the numbers for projected revenue.

There was also discussion of bringing in food trucks vs. catering.

The Board approved Ms. Porterfield to proceed with the event and felt it
was a great opportunity for the residents of Kittitas County, since
there is not anything on the 4th of July currently down in the Lower
County.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 a.m.

KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
