Ruby Street
Ellensburg, WA 98926
Dear Mark and Karen
REFERENCE: Whiskey and Mercer Creek LOMR Submittal Materials
A copy of the above -referenced materials have been received by the City of Ellensburg and
reviewed by Staff from the City's Community Development and Public Works & Utilities Departments. We
understand that the County is seeking a coordinated County -City response to FEMA in order to make the
LOMR request which would alter the existing (1981) FIRM maps.
We appreciate the County's desire to provide accurate flood mapping, as we also encounter areas
of inaccuracy when utilizing the outdated 1981 maps. However, upon review of the proposed LOMR
materials, City staff feel that there may be areas that are not represented accurately, and we would
appreciate the opportunity to conduct a peer review of the materials prior to signing off on the FEMA
Overview and Concurrence form. We will be in touch in the very near future to discuss a timeline for
moving forward, after we have made arrangements for the peer review to be completed. At that point we
would very much appreciate having a joint meeting to discuss the outcomes of the peer review, and to
discuss any issues or discrepancies that may arise. In this way, the City hopes to develop and submit a
coordinated request to FEMA that is in the best interest of the community members within both
incorporated and unincorporated areas of the County.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact me in the Community
Development Department at 509-962-7232 or via email at sackettk@ci.ellensburu.wa,us
Sincerely,
Kirsten Sackett
Community Development Director
cc: Ryan Lyyski, Public Works & Utilities Director
