(Vacant) Member Indefinite The Building Board of Appeals is created to hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by the building official relative to the application and interpretation of the adopted codes, except, appeal of any floodplain, critical area or hazard area shall be made to the Hearings Examiner. Members shall be qualified by experience and training to pass judgement on matters pertaining to building codes and construction and who are not employees of the jurisdiction. The building official shall be an ex -officio member of the board but shall have no vote on any matter before the board. The Board of Appeals shall be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and shall hold office at its pleasure. At least one member shall be a professional architect registered in the State of Washington, one member shall be a professional engineer registered in the State of Washington, and one member shall be a licensed contractor. The board shall adopt rules of procedure for conducting its business, and shall render decisions and findings in writing to the appellant with a duplicate copy to the building official. The Board of Appeals shall have no authority to interpretation of the administrative provisions of the adopted codes, nor shall the board be empowered to waive requirements of adopted codes or laws. The building official shall take immediate action in accordance with the decision of the board. Meetings are scheduled as necessary. A $500 fee is required for all appeals to be heard. Appeals of decisions of the board shall be made to the Board of County Commissioners. The processes of the Building Board of Appeals shall not be construed to deprive any person of recourse to the courts as they may be entitled to under the law.
