2018 ROAD STANDARDS REVIEW COMMITTEE
Introduction
The existing Kittitas County Road Standards are a result of a minimal revision effort conducted
in 2015. The primary result of the revision was to cap the number of private lots on a dead end
road to 30 — consistent with adopted fire code. For the past two years, Public Works staff has
compiled desired revisions reaching well beyond the minor effort of 2015. Recently, KPG (an
on-call civil engineering consultant with PW) delivered a draft 2018 Road Standards package.
This effort represents a wholesale revision to existing county road standards.
PW desires having a group of County stakeholders review the KPG effort, offer revisions and
assist PW through the code adoption process. To that end, PW is requesting the Board of
County Commissioners consider forming a review committee supporting implementation of the
new proposed standards.
Suggested Committee Makeup
• Two local land use developers
• Two representatives from area engineering and/or survey firms specializing in land
development services
• A representative of the real estate community
• Two representatives from local excavation specialty firms
• One representative from local land use consulting firms
• One member from the agricultural community
• One member of from the fire/life/safety community
• One member from the home builders association/community
Proposed Proiect Timeline
• Press Release (7/11/18)
• Ads in Daily Record and Northern Kittitas County Tribune (July 18, 2018)
• Present list of responders for Board consideration (8/13/2018)
• Formulate the committee (8/13/2018)
• Committee review (9/10/2018 — 12/07/2018)
• Present draft for Planning Commission review (12/10/2018)
• Planning Commission review (01 — 02/2019)
• Public Hearing for Title 12 amendment (03/2019)
Committee Level of Effort
Review meetings are expected to last two hours for each session.
