Side slopes shall be designed to accommodate utility placement and the placement of other roadside <br />features. <br />Cut slopes may require terracing depending upon the total slope height and the nature of the material <br />being cut. Cut slopes higher than fifteen feet will require a geotechnical investigation to determine if <br />terracing will be required. <br />12.04.08.050 Mailboxes. <br />All mailboxes, including both individual and cluster types, shall be designed and constructed in accordance <br />with requirements of the United States Postal Service, the WSDOT LAG Manual, and as follows: <br />A. The applicant shall submit documented approval by the U.S. Postal Service prior to receiving <br />approvals from Kittitas County. Specific requirements must be obtained from the local post master. <br />All applicable details and installation requirements provided by the U.S. Postal Service shall be <br />included in the plan set. <br />B. Mailbox supports shall be of breakaway design, unless located a minimum of eighteen inches <br />behind a curb or beyond the clear zone in accordance with the WSDOT Design Manual. <br />C. Mailboxes shall be designed and constructed in accordance with the most recent revision of <br />applicable WSDOT Standard Plans. <br />D. USPS requires installation of cluster box units to serve four or more addresses. Specific <br />requirements must be obtained from the local postmaster. <br />E. Where USPS requires neighborhood delivery and collection box units, they shall be located as <br />required by the USPS. <br />F. Turnouts for mail delivery vehicles shall be installed to serve cluster box units and neighborhood <br />delivery and collection box units located along arterial or collector roads, or any road with a posted <br />speed of thirty-five miles per hour or greater. <br />12.04.08.060 Landscaping. <br />All landscaping within county right-of-way shall require approval of the County Engineer. <br />Landscaping shall be of the type and placement to achieve and maintain the sight distance requirements <br />detailed in KCC 12.04.04 <br />No landscaping shall be allowed within a drainage ditch or drainage swales. <br />Landscaping in urban areas shall follow the standards provided in KCC 12.04.09.110 <br />12.04.08.070 Roadway Illumination. <br />Title 12 Kittitas County Code J Draft No. 5 Working Draft forAdoption 6/12/2018 <br />67 <br />
