Mark Cook added that it is <br />time to explore long term options, which could include placing <br />ecology blocks, construct a dead end on Nelson Siding Road or <br />tolling, however, fire life safety is an issue as well. Mark <br />Cook continued that Washington State Department of <br />Transportation is unwilling to do another ramp closure and the <br />county's road network is not designed to accommodate this volume <br />and type of traffic. Chairman Osiadacz commented that the <br />traffic is an every weekend occurrence not just on weekends and <br />the amount of people coming into the area is increasing with the <br />Nelson Siding route becoming a corridor for traffic. Chairman <br />Osiadacz suggested a community meeting be set up in upper county <br />with staff to discuss the issue with area residents. Discussion <br />was held. Staff will schedule the meeting as requested. <br />HYAK ROADWAYS DISCUSSION <br />Mark Cook gave background on previous discussions with the Board <br />of County Commissioners regarding the road network at Hyak. <br />Mark Cook stated that at the last study session he presented <br />information on options to be considered, however, there was no <br />interest by the Board of County Commissioners or the residents <br />to pursue those. Mark Cook continued that he did solicit legal <br />for an opinion on donations for maintenance but had not received <br />a response to report on at this meeting.
