Water St., #201 <br />Ellensburg, WA 98926 <br />RE: Kittitas County Commitment Regarding YBIP Funding for Proposed Land <br />Acquisition <br />Bear Mr. Gross: <br />As requested by the Yakima Basin Integrated Plan (YBIP) Habitat Subcommittee at its <br />September 21, 2017 meeting, the County is following up with you, as a member of that <br />subcommittee, regarding the County's request for funding for the acquisition of a 160 - <br />acre parcel, Kittitas County Parcel 508933 (Stewart). <br />At that meeting, the Subcommittee proposed allocating $1,200,000 of Ecology YBIP <br />funding towards the County's acquisition of this parcel, subject to the Subcommittee's <br />approval of the County's plans for managing and restoring this parcel and the adjacent <br />County -owned properties to the north. <br />This letter details the commitment and intentions of the County if awarded this grant. <br />The proposed acquisition is part of the implementation of the County's 2015 Yakima <br />River Jeffries Levee to Yakima Can on Habitat Enhancement and Flood Risk <br />Management Plan (Plan). The County seeks this acquisition funding to facilitate <br />implementation of specific actions identified in the Plan for Parcel 508933 (the Stewart <br />parcel, the property proposed for acquisition), and County -owned parcels 17895 (County <br />Sprayfield) and 728733 (Hansen Pits). <br />If the YBIP Program awards the County a $1,200,000 grant for use towards the <br />acquisition of Parcel 508933, and the County succeeds in acquiring this parcel, the <br />County agrees to the items listed below. (For reference, please see the attachment for an <br />approximate location of the management areas noted in this letter.
