This current flood
study effort was started back in February 2010 and there was interest in seeing the flood hazard
information updated. Wien the draft maps came out in late 2012, we had numerous concerns
with the accuracy of these maps as they related to the observed flooding that has been seen in the
County. As part of this, we provided several pages of comments detailing our concerns. In your
explanation of these results, we understand better how there are some limitations in your ability
to produce detailed results for many miles of what are defined as approximate level of effort
strearns based on the limited population associated with some of these streams.
There are areas of the 2010 study that we feel sufficient analysis was done and it will improve on
the current effective information so there are some areas we would like to move forward with.
We understand to do that, because our county is just in a paper format now, the rest of the county
will need to have digital data as well. This will mean digitizing the current effective study in. the
areas where we can't currently agree on the flood mapping approach. The agreement on where
we would life to move forward is attached as FXMBIT 1 to this letter. All remaining County
areas would be digitized based on the content of the current paper format.
We are committed to work with you on gradually updating these areas of disagreement through
the CTP program and through some of our oven funds but this will be outside of this initial effort
to get the countywide study into a digital format and it will be limited to funding availability.
There will also likely be some adjustments to some of the agreed on areas through information
that we will submit as appeals and comments when the preliminary maps are released.
411 N.
