FTC, f1°1
0 Description and Funding Informadon
[[REBiION
Kittitas County Public Works 99-1039 D
Vantage Boat Launch Restrooms Boating Facilities - Local
Description of Project
The Vantage boat launch is the only improved, non -fee boat launch facility to the Columbia River in Kltutes County.
This faciity was improved in the 1980% and has had rninor improvements throughout the years. The existing restroom
facility consist of two Independent vault style units. These facilities have no running water and require periodic pumping
and other maintenance.
Kttltas County proposes to construct a concrete block restroom facility which will include, men's and women's facilities
with flush toilets, running water and handicap accessible. This unit will be constructed westerly of the existing vault
toilets and will be connected to the Vantage area treatment plant. This plant is located next to the park and will require a
pumping system. The removal of the vaulted toilets will not only provide a more sanitary facility for the public, the new
facility will be more environmentally friendly.
The county has a minimal annual parks budget of $7,500 to maintain the boat launch. Various community residents in
the town site of Vantage have assisted the County with the maintenance of the boat launch. This facility will allow easier
maintenance with the addition of running water and a small storage area.
It is anticipated that these restrooms will be open from May to October annually. This facility will not be designed to
withstand freezing weather conditions, therefore the faciity will be winterized and locked during the winter months.
Driving Directions
Just north of 1-90 (exit 136), west shore of Columbia River, 5 miles north of Wanapum Dam, .5 miles south of Ginko State
Park.
