She reviewed different portions of the language that the Board
should consider changing prior to approval which may help make it
clearer. LIZ WHITAKER, PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT/COUNTY RESIDENT said
she hadn’t seen the final language and noted there’s an RCW in place
that requires rabies vaccinations. She suggested having Dr. Larsen
review the language relating to rabies before Board approval.
MARLENE PFIEFER said she does not walk near her home anymore due to
a pack of dogs that lives in the area and they have gotten out
before. She said they have reported it to the Sheriff’s office and
there is a lot of concern by residents. BREANNE ELSEY said she lives
in a home with 17 German Shepard’s nearby and expressed concerns for
her family due to the lack of a dog law. She indicated it would be a
tool for the Sheriff’s Department to use if the Board were to
approve a dog law. She provided correspondence from Dr. Elise Herman
relating to the long lasting physical and emotional impacts of dog
attacks.
