12/04/2017 MINUTES 1 COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM REGULAR MEETING MONDAY 9:40 A.M. DECEMBER 4, 2017 Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura Osiadacz & Commissioner Obie O’Brien. Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Jim Goeben, IT Director & Patti Johnson, Solid Waste/Maintenance Director/Project Manager. REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD INFORMATION TECH. Jim Goeben, IT Director explained that he had received a request from Public Works to purchase a 34 inch ultra-curved 4K screen. He explained that they are very expensive and not what they typically purchase. He asked the Board for direction/confirmation of his role in overseeing these types of purchases prior to him contacting the Public Works Director to discuss the purchase. Commissioner O’Brien stated he was not in favor of the purchase, however if it was for ADA he could support the request. Commissioner Osiadacz and Chairman Jewell stated that they trusted Director Cooks judgement and felt that if they (DPW) have the funds to purchase what is needed then they were in support of the request. They both indicated that if there were still outstanding concerns after the discussion with Director Cook then the Board would like to hear those. They encouraged Mr. Goeben to explore options once he hears why the request is being put forward and to find the best option for the best price. The Board discussed the issues I.T. is having with rain coming into the basement and discussed the solutions and costs associated with them. The Board directed Staff to compile the costs of all ideas and compare them for what would aid in the best rainwater diversion set up for the location and comeback and report to the Board.
