Cook RECOMMENDATION: Define the sales process, consult with the Airport Advisory Board and prepare a recommendation for the Board returning on 10-23-2017 for Board direction. BREIFING SUMMARY: • Define the sales process for decision makers and potential purchasers • Brief the Airport Advisory Board • Return on the 23d with a recommendation and action plan BACKGROUND: Recently, staff was approached by a potential purchaser for two County owned. facilities at Bowers Field: our "T" hangars and the main hangar. Staff has been working intensively the past week providing decision making data to a potential purchaser. Recently, staff obtained a structural evaluation of the "T" hangars and now better understands the structural integrity of the building. It appears that the structure can support retrofit of hangar doors. The main hangar facility was reconstructed following its collapse resulting from the 1996 winter storm event. It appears that FEMA provided reconstruction funding. Staff is currently in the process of understanding any obligations remaining from FEMA funding. DISCUSSION: Typically, staff would engage an appraiser to define the fair market value of the hangars. Airports are all unique and any attempt identifying comparable valuations is expected to be difficult. Staff anticipates a sealed bid process resulting from an advertised sale process.
