KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: September 25, 2017 <br />RECOMMENDATION: Reduce the posted speed on Carroll <br />Road from 50 MPH to 35 MPH <br />BACKGROUND: Many residents, farmers, and employees for <br />the Kittitas Reclamation District (KRD) have <br />expressed concerns of speeding, noise <br />pollution (exhaust brake use), and unsafe <br />conditions occurring along Carroll Road. <br />Public Works held a Public Hearing on <br />September 1311, 2017 for the BOCC to consider <br />the request for the speed reduction of Carroll <br />Road. <br />After hearing recommendations from Public <br />Works staff and public testimony the BOCC <br />requested staff to prepare enabling documents <br />reducing the speed of Carroll Road from 50 <br />MPH to 35 MPH. <br />Additionally staff will deploy signs restricting <br />the use of compression brakes along Carroll <br />Road at the time the new speed limit signs are <br />installed. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Ordinance <br />LEAD STAFF: Lucas Huck, County Engineer <br />
