BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSII <br />COUNTY OF HITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />ORDINANCE No. 2017- 6 0 b <br />ESTABLISHMENT OF A 35 MPH SPEED ZONE AND THE PLACEMENT OF SPEED LIMIT <br />SIGNS ON CARROLL ROAD AND AMENDING SECTION 10.08.020 OF THE HITTITAS <br />COUNTY CODE <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County has determined that 35 miles per hour is an appropriate speed limit for <br />Carroll Road from Mile Post 0.0 at Badger Pocket Road to Mile Post 2.08 at end of road. <br />The increase in use of Carroll Road by commercial operations has prompted a request from <br />citizens to lower the speed limit due to concerns of traffic conflicts and safety hazards for <br />residents entering and leaving the roadway, canal crossing operations, and use of the road by <br />large farm equipment. <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County has determined that 35 miles per hour speed limit signs would improve <br />safety at this location; and <br />WHEREAS: The Board of Kittitas County Commissioners did hold a public hearing on Wednesday, <br />September 13'h 2017 to hear public testimony regarding the establishment of a speed zone <br />and placement of speed limit signs on the above listed road. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED That the Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners, after <br />due deliberation and in the best interest of the public, does hereby establish a 35 mph speed limit on Carroll <br />Road from Mile Post 0.0 at Badger Pocket Road to Mile Post 2.08 at end of road; and authorizes the <br />placement of speed limit signs at the above stated locations and amending Kittitas County Code Section <br />10.08.020 as indicated in Exhibit A. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED That this ordinance will become effective upon the installation of the <br />appropriate signs. <br />ADOPTEDthis 2tI—Lday of_& 2017. <br />Attest: <br />Clerk of the Board- Julie Kjorsvik <br />of the Board- Mandy Buchholz <br />>��•.• SEAL <br />9ScOUNP NIP`'�.``� <br />'ninn i nwO"' <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />AUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />OPPOSED <br />Obie O'Brien, Commissioner <br />
