DISCUSSION:
The observed frequent bypass route currently being used by heavy truck traffic is defined
as:
Thorp Prairie Road (I-90 exit 93 to Upper Peoh Point Road); Upper Peoh Point
Road to the intersection of Mohar Road; Mohar Road to the intersection of
Westside Road; Westside Road to the intersection of Nelson Siding Road and
Nelson Siding Road to 1-90 exit 74.
Limiting heavy truck traffic on the above route is expected to significantly decrease the
wear and tear on local County roads. PW recommends setting the initial period of time
for the restriction at one year. Subsequent restrictions will require supplemental
resolutions.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
Road signage and associated publications are anticipated to cost in the range of $5,000 to
$6,000.
ATTACHMENTS:
Exhibit 1: RCW 46.44.080
Exhibit 2: RCW 36.75.270
PUBLIC WORKS BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
