KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />SUTDY SESSION DATE: June 26th, 2017 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the <br />Procurement of a Steel Modular Bridge <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County Public works received approval for an <br />alternate project for the Ringer Loop FEMA funding. <br />Within this alternate project funding was identified for the <br />procurement of a 40' steel modular bridge to be deployed <br />for detours during construction activities and during <br />emergency events. <br />It was later identified that a two piece, 90 foot span (30 foot <br />and 60 foot) would better suit the needs of the County <br />during flooding emergencies and would span most <br />waterways within the County. This also allows for <br />deployment of two bridges over smaller waterways <br />simultaneously. This request has been approved for <br />purchase through FEMA. <br />The Engineers estimate for the proposed proj ect is <br />$150,000 which falls right at the allowable limit for small <br />works publication with FEMA funding. <br />As a precaution Public Works is moving to call for formal <br />sealed bids in the event low bid is received for an amount <br />above that threshold. <br />Bids are scheduled to be opened publicly on July 21st, <br />2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Public Works Department. <br />Public Works will be utilizing QuestCDN for contract <br />advertisement as described in the notice of call for bids. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMN ENDATION: Move to approve Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the for <br />the Procurement of a Steel Modular Bridge <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Call for Bids; Bid Proposal Package <br />LEAD STAFF: Lucas Huck, County Engineer <br />
