4/03/2017 MINUTES 2 Each Commissioner was assigned three different Department Heads to meet with on a weekly basis. This was determined at a Special Meeting with the Board of County Commissioners held on June 18, 2009. Each Commissioner reviewed discussions held with their respective departments and exchanged details of those meetings. On January 3, 2011 the Board determined it would be beneficial to alternate Commissioners that will oversee the different Department Head’s on an annual basis. They determined at the end of 2013 they would review the various committees they participate in and provide beneficial updates to the Board as needed during this time as well. OTHER BUSINESS – Chairman Jewell indicated he wanted to follow up regarding the American Planning Association Award and determine how the County was moving forward. He stated that although he would like to accept the award he felt the Board understands the importance of a representative attending to accept the award. He doesn’t foresee how he will have the time to fly to New York to accept the award. He indicated that he has spoken with Amy McGuffin, Kittitas County Chamber and since she was a part of the project he felt she would be a great back up to attend in his absence. He stated that they have funds in the Chamber Travel budget and Ms. McGuffin was willing to go on behalf of the County. Commissioner O’Brien felt that would be a good option since time is not allowing for Chairman Jewell to attend the conference and accept the award on behalf of the County. Commissioner Osiadacz felt Chairman Jewell should go, but also is understanding of why he is unable to attend. She indicated that she would also support Ms. McGuffin attending on behalf of the County.
